First
we take considerably knowledge about the steam power plant by Mr.____ and by
Pro. Sagar Tailor.
v Steam power plant:-
Components of steam turbine:-
·
Boiler
·
Steam
turbine
·
Condenser
·
Feed
pump
·
Alternator
(steam turbine power plant)
Ø
A steam-electric power station is a power station in which the electric generator is steam driven. Water is
heated, turns into steam and spins a steam turbine which drives an electrical
generator.
Ø After it passes
through the turbine, the steam is condensed in a condenser. The greatest
variation in the design of steam-electric power plants is due to the different
fuel sources. It takes natural natural water as
fuel.
Ø
The electric efficiency of a conventional steam-electric
power plant is 33 to 48%. The rest of the energy must leave the plant in the form of heat.
This waste heat can be disposed of with cooling water or in cooling towers.
v Gas turbine power plant:-
Components of gas
turbine power plant:-
·
Air compressor
·
Combustion chamber
·
Turbine
(Gas turbine power
plant)
Ø First of all natural
air is compressed into high pressure by a compressor.
Ø Then fuel and
compressed air are mixed in a combustion chamber and ignited.
Ø Hot gases are given
off, which spin the turbine wheels.
Ø Gas turbines burn
fuels such as oil, natural gas and pulverized(powdered) coal.
Ø Gas turbines have
three main parts: i) Air compressor ii) Combustion chamber iii) Turbine
Ø The capacity of power
generation of the power plant was 220 MW
v Safety in power plant:-
Ø The plant follows the
law and standard of ISO.
Ø All the engineers and
workers in the plant were wearing helmet and it was compulsory.
Ø All the components and
equipment’s were checked time to time by preventive maintenance
Ø There was fire alarm
in every few distance
Ø Power plant has a
separate safety department.
v Grid system in power plant:-
Ø An electrical grid is
an interconnected network for delivering electricity from suppliers to consumers.
Ø It consists of
generating stations that produce electrical power, high-voltage transmission
lines that carry power from distant sources to demand centers, and distribution
lines that connect individual customers.
Ø Power stations may be located near a fuel source, at a dam site,
or to take advantage of renewable energy sources, and are often located away
from heavily populated areas.
Ø The electric power
which is generated is stepped up to a higher voltage at which it connects to
the electric
power transmission network.
v HRS system in power plant:-
A waste heat recovery system (HRS) is an energy recovery heat exchanger that recovers heat from hot streams with potential
high energy content, such as hot flue gases from steam from cooling towers or even waste water from different cooling processes such as in steel cooling.
Component
of heat recovery system:-
·
Recuperators
·
Regenerators
·
Heat pipe exchanger
·
Thermal wheel and economizer.
·
Heat pumps
Recuperaters: This name is given to different types of heat
exchanger
that the exhaust gases are passed through, consisting of metal tubes that carry
the inlet gas and thus preheating the gas before entering the process.
Regenerators: This is an industrial unit that reuses the same
stream after processing. In this type of heat recovery, the heat is regenerated
and reused in the process.
Heat pipe exchanger: Heat pipes are one of the best
thermal conductors. They have the ability to transfer heat hundred times more
than copper. The heat pipe is mainly used in space, process or air heating, in
waste heat from a process is being transferred to the surrounding due to its transfer mechanism.
Thermal Wheel or
rotary heat exchanger: consists of a circular honeycomb matrix of heat
absorbing material, which is slowly rotated within the supply and exhaust air
streams of an air handling system.
Economizer: In case of process
boilers, waste heat in the exhaust gas is passed along a recuperator that
carries the inlet fluid for the boiler and thus decreases thermal energy intake
of the inlet fluid.
Heat pumps: Using an organic
fluid that boils at a low temperature means that energy could be regenerated
from waste fluids.
v Partners and affliation:
·
Long
term gas supply arrangement (GSA) with GSPC, niko.
·
Long
term power purchase arrangement (PPA) with GUVNL (GEB).
·
Alstom
as erection procurement constructions (EPC) turnkey contracter for CCPP.
·
Steag
encotac for operations and maintenance of the CCPP Gujarat plant.
v Natural gas to power:-
·
GSEG
is in the business of buildings new power generation plant to meet the energy
challenges in Gujarat,
·
Its
first and foremost demonstrable success is the natural gas powered combined
cycle power plant at (surat), Gujarat, with an installed capacity of 156MW.
·
Supplied
by Alstom and managed by steag encotec, both world leaders in advanced power
technologies. The plant was designed, developed & led by highly qualified
management and engineering personnel from all facets of the electric power
industries under the auspices of GSEG.
v Achievements:-
In the present scenario, where almost
All power projects are facing difficulties and hardly any new capacities are
added to the system, GSEG has created a record of its own by synchronizing the
first gas turbine in record time of 17 months & the second gas turbine in
18 months from zero date of EPC contract. Adding true value to energy needs of
Gujarat, through efficiency, economy & environment friendly operations.
v GSEG’s strengths:-
·
One
of the most efficient producers in Gujarat offering reliability and
flexibility.
·
Applications
of modern and efficient technologies – like CCPP and state of the art controls
for plant management.
·
Committed
to environment friendly operations.
·
Excellent
domain expertise guaranteeing efficient and economic operations.
·
Regular
modernization to continuously increase energy yields and environmental
performance.
